Download this free B1–B2 grammar worksheet PDF for English learners and teachers. This lesson helps students practise the future continuous and future perfect in clear, practical English.
Students learn how to use the future continuous for an activity that will be in progress at a specific future time. The worksheet gives clear examples such as At 8 tonight, I will be teaching, This time tomorrow, she won’t be working and Will you be using the car at six?
The worksheet also teaches the future perfect for something that will be complete before or by a future point. Students practise examples such as By Friday, we will have finished the report, By June, he won’t have saved enough and Will they have arrived by noon?
Students also learn how to use time clues to choose the correct form. The worksheet contrasts at + future time for actions in progress with by + future time for completion, using examples such as At 7 tomorrow, I will be driving home and By 7 tomorrow, I will have left the office.
The worksheet also covers by the time + present form in future time clauses. Students learn to write By the time you arrive, I will have cooked dinner, not By the time you will arrive. It also introduces the future perfect for duration, as in By December, she will have known Leo for ten years.
The PDF includes a grammar focus section, future continuous and future perfect exercises, choose-the-correct-form practice, sentence matching, mistake correction, mini-dialogues, controlled rewriting, meaning-and-use practice, speaking practice, writing practice, vocabulary and grammar sentence practice, an error-checking challenge, useful reminders and a full answer key.
This worksheet can be used in one-to-one lessons, group classes, online English lessons, adult ESL lessons, EFL classes, homework, restaurant-English practice or independent grammar practice.
