Students learn how to form correct direct questions using normal question word order. The worksheet covers questions with auxiliaries and modals, such as Where do you work? and What can she do?, as well as be questions such as Are you ready? and Where is the station?
The worksheet also teaches the important difference between subject questions and object questions. Students practise subject questions such as Who called you? and What happened?, where no do / does / did is needed. Students also practise indirect questions after polite phrases such as Could you tell me…, Do you know… and Can you explain…. The worksheet shows that indirect questions use normal statement word order, as in Could you tell me where the station is?, not Could you tell me where is the station? It also covers yes/no indirect questions with if or whether, such as Do you know if the shop is open?
