Free B1–B2 Grammar Worksheet PDF: Relative Clauses: Who, Which, That, Where and Whose

Download this free B1–B2 grammar worksheet PDF for English learners and teachers. This lesson helps students practise relative clauses with who, which, that, where and whose.

Students learn how to use defining relative clauses to give important information about a person, thing, animal, place or possession. The worksheet focuses on clauses that identify exactly which person or thing we mean, such as The woman who lives upstairs is a doctor and The app which tracks your spending is useful.

The worksheet teaches students when to use who or that for people, which or that for things and animals, where for places, and whose + noun for possession. Students practise examples such as This is the café where we met and She is the student whose project won the prize.

Students also practise the difference between subject relative clauses and object relative clauses. The worksheet explains that the relative word cannot be omitted when it is the subject, as in The man who called you is outside, but it can often be omitted when it is the object, as in The film we watched was brilliant.

The PDF includes a grammar focus section, relative clauses exercises, choose-the-correct-form practice, sentence matching, mistake correction, mini-dialogues, sentence rewriting, meaning-and-use practice, speaking questions, writing practice, vocabulary and grammar sentence practice, an error-checking challenge, useful reminders and a full answer key.

This worksheet can be used in one-to-one lessons, group classes, online English lessons, adult ESL lessons, EFL classes, homework or independent grammar practice.
