Welcome to the IELTS Writing Task 1 section of Britfluency.
In Academic IELTS, Task 1 asks you to describe visual information such as a graph, chart, table, map or diagram. You need to write at least 150 words and you should spend about 20 minutes on this task.
A good Task 1 answer should clearly summarise the main features, make relevant comparisons and present information in a logical order. It is important to select the key points, not describe every detail.
To do well in Task 1, you need clear organisation, accurate grammar, a good range of vocabulary and careful use of data.
